Walsh Ecuador We are proud to announce that Peter Ayarza of Walsh Ecuador has been appointed president of the ASSE (American Society of Safety Engineers) Ecuador Section.
New Employees Brian W. Andersen, P.G. - Senior Geologist – April 2008. Mr. Andersen has 17+ years of environmental, geotechnical, health & safety, and construction experience. His diverse background has provided an understanding of a wide array of consulting and construction services, including: foundation investigations and inspections; materials testing and quality control; environmental assessments and investigations; remedial planning and implementation; environmental planning, permitting, and compliance; rapid response and release management; health, safety, and environmental audits and compliance; waste management; and resource assessment, protection, and conservation.
Margit Hentschel - Director of Climate Protection Services and Sustainable Development - January 2008. Ms. Hentschel has worked as an environmental professional for 22 years. Her project management experience is diverse and includes corporate, community and government sustainability. Furthermore, her environmental management experience includes the design and implementation of climate protection campaigns, management of local and national climate adaptation programs, fundraising, budget and grant oversight, as well as environmental program management at the city level.
James Robb - Manager of Geospatial Technologies Group - December 2007. Mr. Robb has 25 years of professional experience in Geospatial Information System (GIS) technology, Cartography, Computer-aided Mapping, Graphic Design and Information Technologies for various applications including web design, architecture, construction, development of GeoWeb software, publishing, 3D modeling and permitting compliance.
Greg Estes – Project Manager - December 2007. Mr. Estes has over 17 years experience in the environmental field. He performs asbestos surveys, onsite air monitoring, and project design. He also conducts asbestos remediation oversight, supervision, and is responsible for report preparation and the implementation of standardized inspection and reporting protocols.
Awards December 2007 - Walsh was the GSA Winner and recipient of the 2007 Environmental Award for our work on the Byron G. Rogers U.S. Courthouse Renovation Project in Denver, Colorado.
November 2007 - For their project, “Microhabitat Protection during Geophysical Exploration in High Diversity Tropical Rainforest”, Walsh-Ecuador was a finalist for the Petroleum Environmental Award, presented by the Energy Institute in London.
December 2007 - Walsh/E & E, along with the Bureau of Land Management and other team members, recently received the Department of Interior Environmental Achievement Award for the Exell Helium Plant Remediation and Closure Team.
October 2007—Walsh Ecuador recently secured a contract with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to prepare an EIA on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos. This represents Walsh Ecuador’s second wind energy development project in the Galapagos region, and it is the firm’s first opportunity with the UNDP in Ecuador.
September 2007 - At The World Oil Awards reception in Houston, Walsh and PetroOriental were chosen as 1 of 4 finalists for the Health, Safety, and Environment/Sustainable Development Award for their project: Microhabitat Protection during Geophysical Exploration in High Diversity Tropical Rainforest.
Community Fire Protection Plans. Walsh’s Wildland Fire Ecology and Management Team was recently awarded a contract to develop Community Wildfire Protection Plans for nine fire protection districts in Jefferson County, Colorado.
Walsh 2008 Year in Review 2008 was a very successful year of growth and exciting projects for Walsh Environmental and our subsidiaries: Walsh Peru, Walsh Ecuador, and Gustavson Associates.
